What are other owners' thoughts on extended warranties for the vehicle? I know the general "extended warranties are a ripoff" argument since, well, someone must be making a lot of money off of them or else they wouldn't exist. Can anyone think of a good reason for getting an extended warranty aside from peace of mind? The one on my motorcycle paid itself off, but then again I new its engine was notorious for oil leaks after 10k when I bought it ed ------------------ That actually is important info...I will be driving this kat a lot, this coming from the guy who drove from SB to Seattle to have a beer with a friend, turn around, and drive back. I did see redwoods on the way Related question: for folks that have an extended warranty, from whom did you get it? A number of "third-party" warranty firms I've checked don't offer coverage for Prowlers. ed ------------------ Note to self: the search results for the boards are in reverse chronological order, so be sure to go through all to avoid looking like a ja*****...and since this place is so popular there's a lot to search Anyway, so if you got suckered in and read this far, the best I can think of is some more pics of Tigger (my prowler), Joshua Tree at night, and the Salton Sea: (I was behind the camera, so am not there) ed On the other hand, to error is human,,,,to forgive is against POA policy, lol. Glad to help! Marty I've been examining adding other FM changers to replace or augment or replace the stock changer. I don't think too much can be done with the in-dash radio itself. Crutchfield et. al. don't seem to make wiring harnesses or dash adapters for aftermarket radio systems specifically for the Prowler. I did see this suggesting that it may be the same as one of the truck dashboards : http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001206.html Anyone used dash mounting kits for any of those vehicles in a Prowler? The real trick is figuring out what aftermarket radios may be compatible with the steering wheel mounted controls. If any are, then perhaps it would be feasible to install an in-dash changer as opposed to the FM one. If the stock changer isn't terribly reliable, it may be enough to force my hand and start figuring all this out and deciphering the wiring...maybe having EE friends in college may finally pay off I hate getting a new car and being forced to start shopping for upgrades ed ------------------ Hint for Cali prowler buyers: pay attention to mileage on out of state vehicles...if it's less then 7500 you may not be able to buy it, even if from a dealer. edsexlessape New prowler owner question...my kat's warranty is expiring (2nd owner) and wanted to get a second opinion... MDProwler My thoughts are if you are going to drive it alot, get it. Parts are expensive and you just never know. I didn't get one for mine but in 93 got one on the Concorde and it saved me thousands. I don't put alot of miles on mine and I can do most work myself anyway.
Gary K sexlessape Thanks! ALLEY CAT here you go:

http://www.dashboardbuddha.com/photo_album_guts/joshua_tree_01_04/digicam/digicam.html ALLEY CAT sex ape - there are no dumb questions here,,,,we learn as we go! Marty Usher I've got 70,000 miles on my kat and even though the extended warranty won't cover tmy engine becuae I added nitrous, they have replaced the front shocks, the tranny pan and cooler, the CD changer - twice, and several other items. It is the first time I have had a warranty actually provide more value than I paid. sexlessape Marty: just curiousity...what fubared on your CD changer that was covered by the warranty? Was it something in the magazine mechanism itself, wiring, or was it a total mechanism faliure? I doubt the prior owner of my car used the CD player much at all given the mileage, but that will definitely change. MDProwler Ed,
Good to see you bought the fastest color Prowler
Gary K sexlessape I have to admit I was initially looking for a two tone or a black. I wasn't sold on the orange when first looking for a kat about 6 months ago, but pictures don't do the color justice. After seeing one in person, I had to have it. The matching TGF/Gaffoglio grille may have helped
